About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

Hello,
I am a US citizen living in New Zealand. I would like to spend 2 days in Shanghai on the way to Europe in less than 2 weeks. Can I get a visa from the Wellington Chinese Embassy or via internet?
Thanks!
