About:Jiankou Great Wall

I am going to Mutianyu in June. Most probably rent a car from beijing. I noticed from various blog that Jiankou is 20 mins from Mutianyu. If we goto Jiankou after Mutianyu (since we have children) we are not thinking of hiking up Jiankou but will really like to view the great wall from the ground. any advice?

Hi,lim
I suggest you not go to Jiankou. Jiankou Great Wall is known as the wild great wall, steep and dangerous. Tour Mutianyu and take cable car to the hilltop.

Hi,
did you end up going to Jiankou with kids? My three boys (9-14 years) really want to see the wild wall. I know it's been a while, but I'm finding it hard to get any information other than "don't go with kids".
Any info would be great, thanks,
Rachel

Honestly, it is best not to have kids to hike that section for the sake of their safety. The roads are really not in good condition and some narrow paths have no handrails. Moreover, some steep roads may block the way of kids. Anyway, if your kids have the experiences of challenging hiking and are all strong snough, you may have a try. Try to have more companions to look after your kids and don't take it in a rush!
