Mr.Niels, the visa regulations vary greatly according to nationality and applicants, if the visa officer feel you won't overstay in China and you can burden the expense of travel, then the flight tickets and accommodation are not required.

We went back to the consulate to get our passports and got our visa (30 dollar each). She did not ever asked us for flights or accommodation but when we went to the consulate today there was a note on the window (we did not saw it the last time, maybe it is new or we missed it the previous time). Anyway... the notice was telling us in English we had to prepare the following when applying for a tourist visa:
- Flight from HCMC to China mainland
- Accomodation in China
- Iternary in China (maybe including a ticket out of China?)
- A letter from a Chineze resisent with invition

We didn't had anything of this and she never asked us about anything of this. Maybe we are lucky or it is really easy to get a visa in HCMC.

So we can confirm it is possible to get a visa in HCMC.

do you ahev any info reg. phone number and opening hours of the Chinese COnsulate in HCMC..? all numbers I tried are either wrong (no connection) or nobody answering.
