About:Lantau Island

Is a trip to Lantau Island in a day possible? I will be there in August and thinking about doing some beach trips. Is it possible to do everything in one day? How long does it take to get there from Tsim Sha Tsui? And are nice beaches far away from Tung Chung? Would it be better to book a hotel on the island and visit more than one beach? Is it worth it? Thank you in advance!

Ms.Lourdes,
I think one day tour for Lantau Island is ok.

Take Tsuen Wan Line to Central and then go to Central Pier 5/6 to take ferry to Mui Wo Ferry Pier. Time table and ticket fare as follow: http://www.nwff.com.hk/eng/fare_table/central-mui_wo/

The bus terminal is near the Mui Wo Ferry Pier. There you can take bus to see Giant Buddha and Polin Monastery or go to the Cheung Sha Beach. Maybe you can go to the beach first and then go back to Mui Wo Bus Terminal to take bus to Giant Buddha and Polin Monastery. Then you can take Ngong Ping 360 cable car back to Tung Chung and take MTR back to Tsim Sha Tsui. Ngong Ping 360 cable car closes at 18:00/18:30. Arrange your time reasonably.
