Hi Michelle,

Well I have been here since March and have come across two night clubs, I am not sure about pubs, as I came here by myself to find I was the only foreigner in the school and have yet to find other foreigners in the city, apparently Luzhou is not a big tourist spot. I am going to Chengdu next weekend, it is a big going out city and has many western pubs. Niteclubs are seen to be for the rich over here as they are expensive enough. Hope this helps, if you want to see Chengdu, you and your friend are welcome to join me. Are you working over here or just visiting?

Hey Noreen,

Thanks for getting back. We spent about a month in Chengdu and ya its a cool city for going out and stuff. Unfortunately we've gotta work this weekend so getting out there is a no go, but when you get back send us an email and we'll meet for a beer. Would be cool to catch up with another expat in the zone.

And any word on a bus schedule to get around town?

Cheers,

Michelle

Hey Michelle,

I have no idea how to get around here on the buses, I usually just walk wherever I have to go or jump in a taxi. The buses are really weird, everything is in pinyin or chinese and you just have to know the number bus you need. Best to bring a chinese speaker with you. I am in Luzhou this weekend but am going to Chengdu next Friday until Monday.

Meeting with other expats is always welcome!

Hi Ms Noreen

I have just finished a teaching placement in the Xindu district of Chengdu, there are quite a few bars around the Sichuan university campus, and many nightclubs. Be warned though, drinks are not cheap in the bars, and the nightclubs are even more expensive. You will looking at around 30RMB for a local beer. I spent quite a bit of time at a place called Sims Cozy garden hostel, I recommend it as a place to stay and get a beer. It's cheap, clean and the staff are wonderful. The bar is nice as well, with COLD local beer for 5RMB. I'd often stay there if I was going out in downtown Chengdu as a Taxi back to Xindu was quite expensive.
