About:Chinese Embassy in Philippines

Is it possible to get a new mainland China L visa before your current one expires? I already have an L visa that is valid until July 2010, but I would like to get a new one while I visit Manila. Is this even possbile? Can they cancel my current visa and issue me a new one?
