About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Hello,

My Pakistani friend wants to meet me(U.S. citizen) in Macau and I understand he doesn't require a tourist Visa there. However, will ne need a transit Visa for Mainland China if he has a Stopover there? Thanks

yes, he needs a visa to the Mainland China. If the connection flight (Pakistan-Mainland China-Macau)is in the same airport in Mainland China, and the stay duration is less than 24 hours, a visa is not required.
