About:Chinese Embassy in U.K.

Regarding my previous question:

I am British and will be travelling to Vietnam from Spain with a stopover of less than 24 hoursin Beijing. I would like to leave the airport. Do I need a transit visa for this?

Mrs.McDonald, you don't need a transit visa if you don't leave the airport during the less than 24 hours stopover.
