About:Chinese Embassy in Canada

Hi,

My fiance has recently been offered a teaching position in China which will begin May 15 2010. The contract will end June 30 2011. I have been to China previously, and therefore was told that I can apply for a multi-entry visa, which allows me to enter the country for one year. The problem of course, is that we plan to be in China for one year and 45 days. I am wondering if the multi-entry visa can be extended to cover the extra month and a half that my fiance will be teaching for?

I'm also wondering if its possible to take part-time employment while in China with this visa?

Thanks so much for clarifying!

Cheers,
H.

Ms.Hayley, you don't need to extend your multiple entry visa, first, I want to clarify the validity and stay duration of China, the multiple-entry visa valid for 1 year, the 1 year means validity (enter before), for example, you get a visa issued on May 1, 2010, you should use the visa before May 1, 2011, the stay duration means how many days you are permitted to stay in China after entry. for example, you use the multiple entry visa to enter China on the last date of validity, May 1, 2010, then you can permited to stay in China for 30 days (till May 30, 2011) or 60 days (till June 29, 2011). You'd better apply for multiple entry visa in May and apply for 60 days stay each entry.

Does this visa allow me to take up part-time employment within China?

The China tourist visa (L visa) holders are not permitted to work in China, however, the China police won't check it in most situation, so you can still take up part-time employment.
