Question

My son and I will be in Hong Kong Aug 7. We would like to take two weeks and travel up to Beijing.  We were thinking of a train to Shanghai, touring then a train to Beijing, touring the return to USA.  Does anyone have any suggestions for itinerary, must see attractions along the way or while in Shanghai and Beijing.Thank you

I think the ininerary is fine, HK - Shanghai - Beijing. That would be the hottest period in Beijing, so stay cool. As to places to visit in those two cities, personally I think there are more attractions to visit in Beijing. In Shanghai, you can have one or two days in the water town around Hangzhou or Suzhou.
