About:China Embassy in Thailand

We plan to go to Shenzhen in April 2010. My husband is Thai but I am Japanese.
Do we need a tourist visa? Or apply Visa upon arrival at Shenzhen?

Japan ordinary passport holders don't need a visa to Mainland China for up tp 15 days, but your husband needs a visa to visit Shenzhen, it is possibel for him to apply for a visa on arrival at Shenzhen.
