Mr.Harry,

You and your wife both need to declare to the customs. According to the regulation, those who bring foreign currency above 5,000 US dollars or equivalent, or 20,000 CNY need to declare to the customs.

If you read the first statement about customs they say you can bring in $5000USD AND 20000CNY but then they say you can only bring in $5000 OR 20000CNY it is so confusing. Which is it please?

hello mister Harry . i i think i want to tell you one way without declare.if you have Unionpay credit cards you can keep any amount with you without declare, without any payment ,but only bank charges you some amount ,i am sure this is a safty and economic way . I have tried with business man who is from Uzbekistan. i think before you make sure enquire from the china ambathy to make sure . becouse rules between china and other countries are different from country to country.and you can take about 5000USD with you save the extra amount in your cradit-card .have a nice trip.
