About:Rights & Duties in China

Hi folks,

My husband is a US citizen and we are traveling to Mongolia. Since there is no direct flight from US to Mongolia, we are gonna have to stay in China for 2-3 days on the way there and overnight on the way back. Does anyone know if he needs a visa and if so which kind? Thanks!

I am a Mongolian citizen so I am good, I am worried about him

Hi Mr Jimmy,

I am sure you are right about my husband, but it is incorrect that I would need one. I travel through China at least 4 times a year and have never needed a visa. Mongolian citizens do not need a visa to enter China.

Just thought you might want to know for future reference.

Mrs.Pinette,

I really want to know more about this. What kind of passport do you have? According to what I have learned, Mongolian citizens do need a visa if they come to China. And you just said that it wouldn’t be necessary to have a visa. Could you tell me more about this?

I am a Mongolian citizen, who is a permanent citizen of USA. I have traveled to China, I can't even count how many times, since I was young. I have never needed a visa, for any of the times. For example my mom is going on a 3 day shopping trip there tomorrow, and my dad has been there for 5 days on business. neither of them need a visa. Every Mongolian citizen is able to travel in and out of china without any problems. I have never heard of any Mongolian citizen needing a visa. I am giving all these examples, to say that it is not anything on my passport. It just the way it is.

I hope it helps

Hello Mrs. Pinette, my mongolian wife and i maybe have a problem that you can advise on. Could you tell us when you travel on your Mongolian and US passports:
1/is your name on the air ticket the same as that on both passports so that when leave the us checkin allows you to pass as you have a no-visa entry to china via the mongolian passport.
2/ Or when you married did you retain your Mongolian name on your Mongolian passport such that the airticket name is the same as you US passport but different to the Mongolian that wil be used to gain No -visa entry to China
