I will fly to Guangzou airport and would like to take the train to go to HK.  How far is the airport from the train station?  What's the best way to get there?

When you arrive at Guangzhou Airport, please take the shuttle bus Line 6A to its terminal, which is located in the walking-distance from Guangzhou East Railway Station. It will take you about one hour one the way and 10 minutes walk to the train station. All of the trains to Hong Kong do depart here.Please note: it will be somewhat difficult to purchase a train ticket to Hong Kong on the spot.
