We would like to spend 2 nights on Gulangyu - can anyone recommend accommodation?  If you are staying on the island do you have to pay the fee each time you come and go to the mainland?  Or is it better to say in Xiamen and just visit for the day?

Mrs.Lawrence,As far as I know, you need to buy ferry tickets when you come to Gulangyu and get back to Xiamen. If you intend to visit those attractions on the island, you have to buy the entrance tickets. If you want to have much fun on the island, better stay on the island. You may stay at the guest houses or hotels on the island.
