About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I am a US citizen traveling to Manila via Shanghai. My connecting flight is with a different carrier - local Philippine airline that leaves within 6 hours. Do I need to apply for a transit visa from Chinese Embassy here in the US?

Thank you.

Ms.PUNTACHINA, you don't need a visa for 6 hours stopover in Shanghai. For USA citizens, visa is not required for them whom transit through Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport of Shanghai, provided they hold valid passports, visas for the onward countries, final destination tickets and have booked seats, and stay in Shanghai for less than 48 hours (go out of airport is allowed)
