About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

I'm a Canadian living in the UK and I sent my Canadian passport away to get renewed a while ago. It was supposed to be ready a few days ago but they said I might not get it until late next week. I will be leaving for Hong Kong at the end of next week and then going to Shanghai the week after. I'm not sure if my passport will arrive in time but I can get a temporary passport from the Canadian embassy which will get me in to Hong Kong. Will I still be able to get a Chinese visa in a temporary passport while I'm in Hong Kong? How long will it take to issue while I'm there?

Mr.Ryan, as I know, the The passport with at least six (6) months validity left before expiration and at least one blank visa page left in it is required for Chinese visa application, you can use your temporary passport to have a try to apply for Chinese visa in Hk. The saftest way is that you get your passport in the late next week.
