About:Marriage Registration in China

Hi

I am desperate for information. I am truly desperate please help. I am unemployed and looking to go to China. My wife is Chinese. Do I have to get a visa before I go or can I just go in as a tourist and then stay as a spouse having jumped through what ever hoops there are? Also, the same question as everyone. Can I really work just based on the fact that we are married provided I find a job?
Thank you.

Mr. Jim Davies, you have to get a Chinese visa before you enter China, you can work in China if you find a job and your employer provide all required documnents for you to apply for Chinese employment visa. Without employment visa, you can't legally work in China.

Jim, you will need a visa to enter China regardless of status. You can enter on tourist and then sort through your issues regarding whether you want to file for resident status. You will not be able to work in China without a Z visa or a business visa with related WOFE type company. This is much more complicated than you seem to be interested in.. so the simple answer is, again, L visa to enter, no work option, decide whether to become a resident.
