About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

I have held a Chinese residence permit since September and I am now in Hong Kong. When I return to my city on the Mainland, will I need to re-register with the police within 24 hours? I will be living in the same place.

I think that you'd better re-register with the police within 24 hours, which is the safest way to ensure everything is Ok.
