Somebody must wanted to kill him and his family...Who were his enemies?

he had lots of different rooms in his palace and he would sleep in a different one each day. When he goes out, there will be two carriages in case someone tries to kill him. However, his quest for something that made him live forever killed him. His doctors gave him a medicine that had too much mercury.

It wasn't uncommon for them to do this they often had potions created to give them immortality
