Thanks for your quick reply. I have no documents in my possession like invitation letter etc...
We just want to travel 6 months in China with tourist visas. Do you think that it is possible then?

Please provide your two way flight tickets, the return flight ticket will be in 6 months to certify that you will stay in China for 6 months, the hotel reservation is also required, for tourist visa application, the invitation letter from China is not required. However, I think it is a little hard to get a 6 months tourist visa, you can have a try, if you just get a single entry tourist visa with 3 months validity, you can apply for extension after arrival.

Again thanks for your precise answer. I have to admit that I will not return in Thailand but carry on the travel in Nepal. It is a travel in different countries and China is the longest stop.

For the hotel reservation how many days need to be book in advance?

It is possible to extend the visa at once after arrival, or do we need to wait that the 3 months are done?

You should apply for extension when your stay duration of this visa will be used out. Please don't apply for extension of as soon as you arrive in China. In fact, you apply for extension, you will be given a new Chinese visa and it becomes valid once it is issued, then your previous visa will automatically expired. Therefore, please apply for extension one week before your present one will be expired.
