About:Qingming Bridge

Hello,

I am in China on a tourist visa, after years of having a residence permit. I finished my contract, left the country, then came back. My prospective employeer says I MUST return to the USA for a Z visa in order to come back and work. I'm trying to tell them I can do it elsewhere, but they are unconvinced. Am I right?

Also, can a tourist visa be switched within China?

Thanks

Thanks, but my meaning also is I think I can get it in another country... like S. Korea.

According to the Chinese embassy's website (for the USA), anyone can apply as long as they have a US visa or are from the USA... I imagine its the same for other countries... right? So, if I am legal able to be in that country, I should be able to get the visa there.

You can go back to the USA or to HK to apply for a Z visa.
Or in some cities of China, with the help of agents, you can have L visas converted to Residence Permits directly.

In S. Korea, you have to go through some designated agents to apply for visas.
