The "tea show" you're referring to is probably the so-called "Tea Ceremony" -- originally a Chinese past-time but no longer practiced there for many centuries. Fortunately, the Chinese Tea Ceremony was adopted by Japan (in the 1200s or so) and adapted it to its own culture and continues to be practiced widely, to this day. Throughout the 20th century (and now), the Tea Ceremony has been exported by Japan and is now practiced, to some extent, in many, many countries of the world (including Hong Kong and the U.S., just to mention the countries I see mentioned in this conversation).
