About:Chinese Embassy in Australia

Hello,

I have agreed to employment to teach at a school in China. They said to me it was easiest to come over on a Tourist visa and change it to a work permit once I am there. I will be in China for 21 days to visit a friend before I arrive in the city where the school is located. I have applied for the 90 day visa, but I have heard you must apply for a work permit within 30 days of arriving in China, is this true?
Thankyou

It is not true, you have to apply for temporary residence permit within 30 days of arriving in China if you hold work visa to enter China. However, if you hold tourist visa to enter China, it is not certain that you can get the work visa within China, I hear that applicants have to apply for work visa in their own country.

Thankyou for your help

Also someone has told me, that it is easier and cheaper to obtain a visa in Hong Kong. My plane ticket has a one night stop over in Hong Kong, so I will be going to Hong Kong before China anyway.

So does anyone have any experience in obtaining a visa in Hong Kong?
