About:China Visa

I am a South African citizen, currently teaching in South Korea. I bought a plane ticket to China for the weekend of 27 February - 1 March 2010. My passport expires in April 2010 and I have applied for a new passport. And I have proof of this. I will not, however, have it yet by the time I apply for a visa and go to China. Would I still be able to get a visa?
