There is no public transportation to Taishan could be found after 9pm. So, you'd better stay one night in Guangzhou downwtown, and on the next day, you could take a bus from the Provincial Bus Station of Guangzhou to arrive in Taishan directly. If you rent a cab to Taishan, the price will be high. Hope this helps!
