hii want to knowwhy Ming emperor need Great wall?is this only a single wall or more walls around it?why it was shaped in Zee-Zag form?i am really interested in chines history so i need your help

The Ming emperor needed it to protect the country from being invaded by the northern nomadic tribes. It is not a single wall but has many other military structures such as beacon towers, watch towers and gun ports. It was built in Zigzag form to help soldiers shoot arrows and hide themselves from being attacked.
