Generally, the tourist visa permits maximum stay of 30 days in China. When you get tourist visa, you can go to anywhere within Mainland China (except for Tibet and some places not open to foreigners) If you want to Tibet, you have to join a tour and get the Tibet Entry Permit first, then apply for tourist visa.
