About:China Train

Hi, I wanted to know about the age or height that defines children vrs adult tickets.
A friend has bought train tickets for my family, she purchased children tickets for my children. I think my son, who is 12, probably needs an adult ticket. Can I fix this on the train or should I go to a ticket seller and fix it before we travel?

Thanks in advance
