will be visitng Shanghai mid of Jan 2010, will be staying around Sentosa area. Could you advise where can i go during 5 days there.

5 days will be enough for you to visit around Shanghai. I suggest you spare one day to visit a water town near Shanghai, like Wuzhen or Zhouzhuang. Or you can take one day Suzhou tour. Both are totally diffrent from Shanghai.
