About:China Visa

Hello,

I am from India and am supposed to travel to Hangzhou on business for 6 months. I came to know that the first business visa validity is for 1 month and then it can be extended locally in China. The problem is that my family (wife and 1 year son) needs to travel along with me and I was told by my company that my family needs to travel on tourist visa (which, like a business visa, has a validity of 1 month) and later get it extended in China... But the tourist visa can only be extended for another month (correct me if I am wrong) and they would either have to travel to Hongkong/outside China or back to India and reapply for another fresh tourist visa.

Is there any way my family can stay with me in Hangzhou for 6 month ? (My company cannot apply for a working visa for me...)
If not and they must apply for another fresh tourist visa then what is the best and fastest way for them.
Can they make a fresh tourist visa application immediately after the previous tourist visa expiry or is there any required wait time between 2 tourist visas?
Can my family make an such application in Hongkong or any other nearby city ? if yes, then how long can it take for such application ?
We all hold Indian passports.

Thanks a lot for your time and best regards,
Shakeel.

yes, your family can't stay in Hangzhou with you for 6 months, your wife and son can apply for a tourist visa with 30 days stay in China, then extend for another month. When the two months is up, they have to exit China, go to Hong Kong or Macau to apply for a new Chinese visa. It takes 4 working days for visa processing. There is no wait time between 2 tourist visas. They can apply for tourist visa immidietly after the visa expired.

Hello Ms.June,

Thanks a lot for your reply. Another query I have is that Since we hold Indian passports, do we need to arrange for any specific documents when applying for second tourist visa at Hongkong.
I found out that Indians can travel to Hongkong for 14 days without any Hongkong visa, but does my family need to make the second tourist visa application, in Hongkong after the expiry of first visa or before the expiry.. any restrictions on that.

Thanks again,
Shakeel.

The 1 year multiple entry visa permits 30 days each stay, you have to exit China when the ech stay is up, you can't stay in China for one year continuously. If you want to stay in China for more than 1 month, you have to the local public security bureau to change your visa and get a temporary residence permit.
