We will arrive at Hong Kong airport at 20:30. I would prefer not to have to wait until the next day. Is it possible for me go to Changsha from Hongkong directly in the evening on that day?

So far as I know, there are no evening flights from Hong Kong to Changsha. Direct train is either not available between the two cities. May you have to stay one night there, and then leave for Changsha the next day.
