My business partner and I want to visit some tradeshows/exhibitions for the year 2010. We are american citizens, but want to know if we need a visa, how we apply? and informations on when and where the exhibitions start?

You need a visa to China, you can apply for tourist visa if you don't have the Invitation Letter from the organizers of the exhibition, if you have the invitation letter, you  can apply for business visa.
