About:FAQ of Chinese Visa Application

Hello people!

I am hoping to visit China this week...

I am going to the Chinese embassy tomorrow to apply for visa, hopefully for 3 to 6 months. I am a tourist.

Do I need to buy a RETURN ticket, or a single will be OK because I do not know where I will go after China!

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

if you live in Scotland, you should apply for Chinese visa at Consulate General of China in Edinburgh, the return air ticket and hotel reservation are required.

While China states that you should have a return or onward travel ticket it does not enforce it for most nationals I have never been required to prove this. However, most airlines will enforce this requirement and you are likely to be prevented from boarding unless you can show confirmed onward travel. You can consider buying a full priced plane or train ticket which is normally refundable less a small fee.
