I'm pretty sure it was for the amazing art and for the fact that there was a population explosion at the time due to the new imported crops from America: sweet potatoes and corn. Also, the first emperor increased the amount of irrigation and fertilizing.

They also were very good in novel writing and well, writing in general, They lowered the number of characters in the Chinese dictionary by about half and translated many stories by the old story tellers into the common language. This is where chapters were introduced because they were originally points in time where the story-teller would stop and collect money. They also became so skilled in Porcelain that they are the reason we call it China today.
