on site china visa.

does anyone know the requirements for the onsite visa? i will be staying for less than 15 days in hainan. will i need an application and pictures? anything else? has anyone done this before because one of the treads on this site said the meilan airport doesn't have onsite visas anymore. i found this confusioning and hope to find clarification. thanks.
