About:China Customs Declaration

If my fren visited china today (15/12/09) and his money RMB36,000 was detained by the custom as the amount he brought in is more than USD5,000... Is there any possibilities to get back that RMB36,000 from the custom officer since the officer did issue him a receipt stating that he could claim back the same by giving three days notice prior to the date he left china. FYI, he is leaving on 22/12/09 and so worry what if the custom of china cheated him. And does this act govern by the governmental bodies?

There are clear regulations on the limitation of money one should take when entering/exitting a country. What a pity your friend were not aware of that. Rules say custom officer have the right to confiscate, fine and warn the violator according to the circumstance.
