For the Criminal history check is it okay to send photo copies or do i need to send the original copies?

Well i traveled to China a few months ago, i had to send a criminal history check for my visa due to some driving incidents. I am going to China again for spring festival i was wondering is it okay to send photocopies or would they still have a record of my last criminal history check from the previous visa, the original copies were never sent back so i was hoping that i could send photocopies or they might still have it in record for my new visa.
