About:Chinese Consulate in Brisbane

Dear Sir/Madam,

My Chinese passport has been expired two days ago. My husband phsically went to the office to help me to extend the passport and he has been told we have to pay $150. While on the white board in the embassy there is only $40 charge if the passport expire within 6 months. Could you please let me know why there is extra charge? Thanks a lot!

Tina

Where do you go to apply for extension of passport? Chinese passport or passport of other countries?

I want to extend my Chinese passport. My husband went to Chinese embassy located in Brisbane and one of officer said $150 would be charge as long as the chinese passport is expired. But on the white board of that office, there is only $40 for extension of chinese passport if it expired within 6 months. I just want to know why there is extra $100 charge? Hopefully someone could give me answer! Thanks a lot!

As you appear to be Chinese (applying for a Chinese passport in the Chinese Consulate) why not ask them there in Chinese? Alternatively ask about this in a Chinese language forum for Chinese overseas travellers (as this site is primarily for people travelling to China).

Mr. APAULT,

As per I said, my husband went to Chinese embassy in Brisbane and he did ask why there is extra charge, but the officer in the counter just said no reason. Also there is nothing to do with using Chinese or not, I just want to know why - if you can't help, just don't reply.

Mrs. Ting Wang, you are Chinese, then you can read the information in Chinese version, you can see the information about applying for a new Chinese passport in Australia on this website http://au.china-embassy.org/chn/lsfw/t553116.htm then you will know that A$150 is charged for getting a new passport if your passport is expired or slight damaged. Since January 1, 2007, the Chinese embassy or consulates in foreign countries has stopped to deal with the extension of Chinese passport. You have to apply for a new paspsort, for more information, you can see http://au.china-embassy.org/chn/lsfw/t267603.htm

At last, I want to say that your attitude to Paul is unpolite.
