Hi, I am a Nigerian residing in Lagos. Tourism is of one my hobbies. I usually use my annual vacation to tour places and i have used my past vacations to travel. I intend to visit china and would like to know if the embassy can accept hotel accommodation in the absence of an invitation letter. If this is acceptable, what are the other requirements apart from the basic requirements.

You can't get a visa without an original Invitation Letter from China. I search the official website of the China consulate in Lagos, http://lagos.chineseconsulate.org/eng/lszj/zgqz/t625003.htm I find that there is only the Requirements for Family Visit Visa (L Visa) is issued, not tourist visa, so I think you have to join in a tour group and get a Group Tourist Visa to China.
