How many days advance should I make a seat reservation from Shanghai to Suzhou? Are trains to that town really crazy crowded on Saturday mornings, or is weekday much better for travel?

The express train from Shanghai to Suzhou running every 30 minutes, so don't worry about the tickets. You can even buy it on the day you leaving.
