About:China Transit Visa

I am an American passport holder going from Mongolia to Vietnam with a 10 hour transit in Beijing, do I need a visa? Actually I did this last year and they issed me a 24 hour visa but I might have just been lucky. Should I count on this happening again? Thanks much if you know.

You don't need a visa if you won't go out of the airport in Beijing during this stopover.
