Hi, Very exciting to visit Taiwan from 12 Dec till 23 Dec 09, this is my first trip to Taiwan, I will stay in Taipei from 19 Dec till 23 Dec (5 days), can I get some nice and value for money winter clothing there? I wanted to visit Alisan and I heard that all the route to Alisan was badly damaged, should there any other alternative transport to take me to visit Alisan? Please advise, thank you in advance for your reply.

Hi, I can help with the transport tfrom Taipei to Alishan. Take high speek train from Taipei to Chiayi, it is fast and only takes 1.5 hours. Do not take the night, or you will spend the whole night on the train. When you get to Chiayi Train Station, find the free shuttle bus to Chiayi Bus Station. BUy the ticket to Alishan and the whole journey is over 3 hours. The tenmperature is around 15C at that time and colder in mountain area. Suggest you take a warm jacket while exploring Alishan.
