About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Hi,

I have been issued a work visa in China which is valid up to my passport's validity (Sept 2010). However, since I have to renew my passport in March (at least six months before expiry), I would like to know if my visa which is stamped in my old passport is still going to be honored with my new passport.

I am confused because based on past work assignments abroad, valid visas stamped in my old passports were still honored with the new passport but I am advised that this doesn't apply in China. Please help!

Any advise on this one will be greatly appreciated.

Your Chinese visa will expire automatically once your passport is renewed.

Thanks for the help Mr. Benjamin and Mr. John Nash! But since you gave conflicting feedbacks, I am all the more confused!!!

Which one is really the correct treatment on this kind of situation?

Ms.Lorna, your work visa stamped on your old passport is still honored with your new passport. Please bring your old passport and new passport together. If you are still worried about it, you can go to the local Public Security Office in China and apply for a new work visa on your new passport.
