About:Chinese Embassy in New Zealand

I am a New Zealander and I plan to spend two nights in Shanghai. Do I have to make sure my stay is less than exactly 48 hours?

Yes, you do, since you will have to apply for a visa if your stay exceeds 48 hours in Shanghai.
