About:Apply for China Visa in a Third Country

Hello, I obtained a one entry/3 day visa to visit China and have since departed China for New Zealand/ Australia. I am flying back from Australia via Shanghai and will have to spend one night in order to connect to my Shanghei-US flight. Do I need to obtain another visa for this short stopover? Can I get it in NZ or AU if I am holding a USA passport?

How long will you stay for this stopover? US citizens are exempt from a visa if they stay in Shanghai Hongqiao or Pudong airport for less than 48 hours.

You don't need a transit visa, you are also allowed to go out of the airport during this stopover less than 48 hours.
