About:Baggage Allowance for Chinese Domestic Flights

I am buying some bird nest for a friend in China. Is it allowed in the checked baggage /hand luggage to enter China?

Is it a samll one. If it is a small one, you can put it in your hand baggage. If it is big, you'd better put it in your checked baggage!
