The early March will be a little cold all the same, but a warm sweater and wind-proof jacket is ok. There will be less rainfall and some sunny days then. So, you could have a nice trip here. Well, there is a Muslim street in Xi'an, where you could find almost every king Muslim food, such as Yang Rou Pao Mo, Dumpling Stuffed with Hot Gravy and Glutinous Rice with Jujube. It would be a little dry if you come from Canada. But on the whole, it's the most wonderful city I've ever been in China.
