About:China Train

Hi,
I would like to know if the following is recommended travel.
Beijing to Xi'an - Monday 22 March 2010. I would like to go on the T41 train, leaving at 16.43 arriving Tuesday 23 March at 5.22am.
I arrive in Beijing on Friday the 19th of March and will ask my hotel to book me a train ticket - is this correct? Also should I get a soft sleeper ticket?
I am travelling alone so any assistant you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Regards, Nerida

It is best to take the soft sleeper. You can have your privacy, though with other three strangers. There are several trains from Beijing to Xian every day. It is too early to decide which one you will take now. All of them, nevertheless, have soft sleepers, I think. Why don't you ask your hotel to book the ticket after you book the room? I just think that it may be a little urgent for your hotel to buy the ticket only 3 days in advance.

Thanks for your help! After doing a little more research I came across China Travel Services in Xi'n who will purchase me a ticket once the train sale opens (10 days in advance) for the Z19. Do you think this is a good idea? Do you think it will be hard to get the ticket on the 19th (4 days away from travel) when I arrive in Beijing - will that not be enough time? Regards, Nerida
