About:Yantai Transportation - Getting There

Any advice on how to take a train from Laizou or Shandong to arrive at the Vietnamese border in Nanning as I heard the train is much better than the bus yet what also about the cost and laying down to enjoy the ride/sights.?

At Qingdao Railway Station, you could take the train 1336/1337 to arrive in Nanning in 48 hours. Then, you could transfer the train from Nanning to Hanoi. There is only one train available everyday, so you may consider taking a coach to Hanoi for instead.
